Hauter Horses

About us

Equestrian sports have a long tradition in the Hauter family. Hermann Hauter, for instance, achieved success in equestrian sports as early as the 1920s. Although he was a farmer by profession, Hermann Hauter’s true passion was always horses. As a dedicated breeder, he received several awards, including the Golden Plaque from the German Equestrian Federation. During his active career, Hermann Hauter was successful in various equestrian disciplines, such as dressage and show jumping, but particularly in trotting and galloping. In the 1970s, his son Gerhard Hauter transitioned the family business from agriculture to professional equestrian sports. In the decades that followed, Gerhard Hauter was among the most successful show jumpers in southwestern Germany. He served as the state trainer for Saarland’s show jumpers for 18 years and has held the German Equestrian Badge in Gold since 1990. Now, in the third generation, Steffen Hauter is responsible for managing the business. After successfully completing his studies in business administration at the University of Saarbrücken, he joined his parents’ company full-time in 2005.

Some of his most notable achievements:

  • 5-time member of the German Nations Cup team
  • 3-time winner of the FEI Nations Cup
  • Winner of the CSIO**** Grand Prix in Kiskunhalas, Hungary
  • Winner of the CSI** Grand Prix in Magna Racino, Austria
  • Winner of the CSI** Grand Prix in Roeser, Luxembourg
  • 2-time State Champion in Show Jumping / Rhineland-Palatinate
  • More than 100 victories in S*–S*** show jumping, recipient of the German Equestrian Badge in Gold
